Stereotactic
The Stereotactic room is used for breast biopsies which may be needed to determine whether abnormalities found during breast imaging may be malignant or benign.
- All breast biopsies are done by a specialized breast radiologist using the latest technology and equipment.
- Procedures are either ultrasound-guided or stereotactic, or mammogram-guided. The room shown here is specifically set up for stereotactic breast biopsy, which uses mammography to help pinpoint the spot in the breast that needs biopsied.
- The entire process is four to five steps and takes about an hour to complete.
- A nurse will support you throughout your experience.
